History of Blair County

Blair County was founded on February 26, 1846 out of portions of Huntingdon and Bedford counties.

 

It was named for the Blair family that settled in the area in 1755. Hollidaysburg is the County Seat and the location of the Courthouse. Blair County’s local courts comprise Pennsylvania’s 24th Judicial District. The Blair County Courthouse currently houses six judges with staff as well as the county’s row offices. Blair County has an active legal community that is fostered by the Blair County Bar Association.
